Disappointing stay

We were gifted this stay from our family as a present to help my recovery from a recent operation.
On arrival we saw a sign plonked on reception saying the pool was closed.No explanation offered on check in and I asked about using the spa instead and was told lots of people were booking in so it didn t appeal to me plus we would have to pay even more money to use it ! No special offers given due to pool being closed.
We headed to our room which was a huge let down.The room was grubby the carpet and curtains stained and our balcony if you could call it that overlooked a neglected roof area.No chairs to sit on even if you did want to ! We headed down to the bar to have a drink as we were unable to use the pool area and found the bar floor sticky underfoot
We booked in for dinner but when we were given the menu it was a reduced menu due to issues in the kitchen.Not much choice and what I did have was inedible.My husband recieved a pint of beer which had large bits floating around in it ! He headed to the bar and they just chucked it away and gave him another one no explanation
After a disappointing meal we headed back to our room and this is when I noticed how filthy the toilet was ! It obviously hadn t been cleaned properly in a long time ! Really grim ! The bed was comfy so had a good nights sleep until 7am when I awoken by next doors phone alarm going off and then could hear him sneezing and using the bathroom ! No soundproofing at all !
We have stayed hear previously a few years ago and had a wonderful stay ! Such a shame it s gone down hill so much.
We would not recommend or would never return which is a shame as every staff member we came across were friendly and helpful.
