"One Day Break"

We just wanted to get away somewhere near to home with a spa and good food. We loved the old fashioned charm of the hotel. The staff were all friendly and very efficient. I loved picking up the phone early in the morning and ordering tea and coffee which was brought to our room instead of the usual kettle and bags in the room for diy. My only thought is that the dining room needs some tlc and something to make it more alive and bright, it is a little bit gloomy.

Having stayed at Heartwell on several occasions - but not for a few years we were pleasantly surprised at the continuing feeling of luxuriousness of the place.

"A luxurious break"

A most enjoyable break in a immaculately maintained country house hotel with exceptionally cared for gardens and grounds! Most helpful staff in all departments with nothing too much trouble . The public rooms, lounges etc are spotless! Very good food and good selection of wine . All in all a most pleasant experience which I would recommend .

"A rather tired venue"

LH, Hampshire, stayed: August 2016

From the outside it looks beautiful and Michael Portillo's review was what had lured us to this venue. However, the room was not great with just a bottle of tap water available. We went to the acclaimed spa restaurant for a light lunch to discover they had run out of bread at 3 o' clock on a Bank Holiday weekend - we bought a sandwich at the local petrol station. The restaurant and the food were excellent, the wine extortionate and on reviewing the bill, we were charged for the `complimentary' after dinner coffee. The walks around the grounds were another feature but the land itself was poorly tended and benches were careworn and crumbling. A bit of a let down all round really.
