Beautiful house, lovely rooms, comfortable beds, good food. We had a delightful and relaxing stay

From the moment we arrived until we left this was a fantastic stay.... staff can't do enough for you, great service and great food.

Found online on the off chance with OPL and really pleased I did, the booking was done with ease. I arranged this for my mum's 70th birthday surprise and was a wonderful experience. The staff were all friendly and helpful in trying to make every moment of the surprise go smoothly, from arrival, the spa, treatment, the court suite room, with dinner and breakfast. Was allowed some extra time in the spa the following morning, when I asked, because it wasn't busy. The spa was lovely and the treatments were an added bonus and thoroughly needed after all the stress arranging the surprises! The room was fantastic, with everything you could need. Was a nice surprise with a little kitchen area behind a cupboard door. The court suite rooms are separate from the main hotel, but ideal when using the spa. The house and main grounds were just a short walk from our room. We were shown around the rooms of the main house by a really friendly member of staff named John. He knew the history of the hotel and showed us the rooms downstairs and 2 of the bedrooms - wow! Although the bedrooms were really large and would be a gorgeous experience, we preferred the court suites as they were quite dark and not much natural light. I was slightly disappointed that the gesture of a little celebration plaque given during dinner was forgotten. I was told it was given for special occasions, so was quite pleased something extra would be done in addition to all my planned surprises. I had spoken to many people about it to be done. When I asked when it would be given, they said it was forgotten, as it should have been brought out when given dessert. Would have been nice to have a little something by the hotel as a gesture for her birthday, as I had mentioned why we were there. But there were plenty of surprises I had arranged from beginning to end of our stay, which were amazing when seeing my mum's reaction. The cafe sandwiches could have been better presented for the price, around 7 for a few crisps and one sandwich (just using normal sliced bread). Thought perhaps special bread and a salad would have been nice, but the food was still tasty. Other food brought out looked nice and was enjoyed. It was a lovely experience from beginning to end. Would definitely recommend OPL and the hotel. Many thanks for an enjoyable stay.
