"Requires updating to rooms"
Kelly S, Lanarkshire, stayed: August 2019 Mar Hall is stunning and the food in the restaurant is glorious! The rooms, however, let it down. I have stayed twice - room 1 and room 3. Room 3 in particular is run down and requires updating which is a real shame. But a freshen up, modernisation in the older rooms and I'd happily stay again
"Good for a very short break."
Aleksandra, stayed: November 2018 Some staff seemed to be annoyed. Soup of the day was the same for 3 days in a row. We were there at the beginning of Nov, so i guess out of season. Otherwise everything was good. However, i wouldn't stay there longer than 2 nights - it gets boring.
"Superb in all respects.."
JB, stayed: January 2018 On arrival we were upgraded. Weather was atrocious but it was no hardship to lounge around the hotel and use the spa facilities which were first class. Staff were lovely and breakfast superb. Perhaps the evening menu could have been a bit more interesting but being the beginning of January, the Christmas one was still on offer.. Food was lovely and service was excellent. I would love to stay there again.
"Upgrade to luxury"
Brian D, stayed: August 2017 My wife and I had this stay as a present for our 70th birthday. Upon arrival we were informed at reception we had been upgraded to a suite (room 5). It was fantastic, huge, clean and what a view. There was a wedding on the day of our arrival (Thursday). The service we received was not hindered by the wedding. Sufficient staff to deal with all. It was nice to be in such oppulence and still get some personal and friendly attention from staff at all levels. We ate in the restaurant and had a great meal - well presented and warm. Breakfast was a little different from most hotels and well served and cooked. Only down side - coffee making machine in room we could not get to work and insufficient cups - we had one small cup and one mug - but we managed and could not complain.
