A relaxing night away

Mar Hall is a lovely venue in a beautiful location. The view across the River was stunning. The staff were very nice and helpful.
The room was lovely and comfortable and very clean. The only downside was that at the coffee point there was an already opened pack of shortbread, which in these Covid times was a bit concerning as we didn't feel the room had been fully cleaned/checked following the departure of the previous guests. That I'd put us off a bit.
The Cristal restaurant was closed on the evening we were there so we ate at the bistro (the 19th). The food was very nice but service was slow, not because of being too busy (only a few tables were tables were occupied) but because the staff were distracted by the Euro football game showing on the TV. The standard of service could have been better.
However, all in all we enjoyed our stay and would have liked to try the spa facilities (we did use the pool and that was very nice) but it was fully booked for the day we were there.
