"Relaxing short break at Hartwell"

To stay at Hartwell is a wonderful step back in time; it would almost be better if there were no televisions in the rooms as they distract from the ambience. Large grounds to walk in, a spa with a good range of treatments and facilities and a good restaurant with excellent wine list complete the package.

Everything you could ask for in a short break. We had a room upgrade which was lovely and view from window was amazing. Only criticism was a need to sort out dinner menus a bit.

Terrie, London, stayed: May 2015 Helpful staff and excellent food. Peaceful, picturesque setting. Wonderfully restored historic building with great spa facilities. Will definitely revisit.

Anon, stayed: April 2015 A real country house hotel, making you feel as if you'd stepped back in time; only felt a bit uncomfortable pressing the staff bell by the fireplace! There are several sitting rooms for a choice of ambience (including well looked after real fire), and you never feel overwhelmed by numbers of guests. The service was exemplary, with plenty of staff in the restaurant and looking after various guest needs. The food in the restaurant was really good and people obviously travel to dine there as not all the diners were staying overnight. We also used the spa and enjoyed the treatments. Having gone out for the day, it was a nice welcoming space to come 'home' to.
