We paid extra for a "Royal Room" in the main house for the full National Trust Experience!. The Tapestry Room was Oak panelled with "Tapestry wall hangings" and large windows overlooking parkland. The coach house rooms looked Ok near the Spa. Romantic grounds to walk around.
The four reception rooms downstairs with open fires were luxurious and full of history. The evening meal was excellent and just as good as the Michelin star Manoir. We spent more than the 53 meal allowance (an extra 28) and then wine and coffee, however, it was excellent food e.g Venison, Scallops, Steak. "Off peak luxury need to advise if service is included", as we did not mind paying 12.5% service on the extras , but not the entire bill (including 53 paid in advance again). This was on the bill in the evening, but was removed the following morning. The service and staff were excellent and Spa enjoyable. Expensive, but Excellent!

Dear SW,
Thank you for your review, it's so nice to read about the wonderful time you had at Hartwell House - the room in which you stayed sounds lovely, and it's great to hear that the service and staff were excellent.
Regarding the discretionary service charge, I'm pleased that the hotel removed this at your request - many hotels do apply a discretionary service charge, however we have added a note regarding this to the website.
With warm regards,
Offpeakluxury
