Beautiful country house hotel

This was our second stay in six months and we were not disappointed. We booked an executive room and couldn't have enjoyed it more. It was clean and spacious with comfortable seating, ample storage space, quality furnishings and lots of natural light. We really appreciated the hotel corridors with long windows, flowers on the sills and views. We think the public rooms are exceptional not least the excellent library and a large drawing room with a log fire. Every member of staff had a smile. They were all friendly, courteous and helpful.
Although I love the spa, the changing facilities are limited and the steam room not all that steamy! There is notice saying that people should not swim alone which really restricts those without a companion on a quiet day. The pool is very clean.
Although there was a good choice of food the restaurant is hardly "gourmet" lacks the luxury feel of quality cutlery, amuse bouches, freshly baked bread and special butters with starters. It was very expensive for meals lacking such special touches.
The hotel is a great location to explore Northumberland.
