Dinner: 5.30pm until 9pm Monday-Wednesday, 6pm to 9pm Thursday- Saturday.

Pre-booking is essential.  Please book in advance to avoid disappointment. They can cater for any dietary requirements provided they are mentioned at the time of booking.

Parking Facilities

They have a CCTV-monitored car park which is complimentary, and parking for Bolton Abbey Estate is included in your room rate.

Disabled Access

The hotel offers one accessible Classic Double bedroom room for wheelchair-users. Please contact us if the accessible rom is required.

The restaurants and facilities are on the ground floor, and you can find an accessible washroom near reception.

The hotel does not have a lift.

There are steps up to and into the Jacuzzi  and steps into the pool, there are no hoists. To access the spa lounge there are steps, please also note there is a small step down onto the path to the spa.

Child Policy

Children are welcome to stay in the Luxury, Superior and Suite rooms. Please contact us to check family room availability.

Children aged 2 and under are free of charge (cots are free of charge)
Children 2 - 12 years are charged £35 per child per night including breakfast
Children 13 years and over are chargeable as adults

Children under the age of six are welcome to dine in the Brasserie. Older children can dine from a simpler menu in Burlingtons (sittings at 6.30 and 7pm, £45 for three courses, including canapes and amuse-bouche). 

Please note that the Devonshire Spa and pool is adult only. 

History of the hotel

The Devonshire Arms was built in the 17th century and came under the ownership of the 4th Duke of Devonshire in 1753 as part of the Bolton Abbey Estate.
It was the 5th Duke, though, who cemented its place in history.  Realising the importance of visitors to the area, the Duke established miles of footpaths. 
During the 19th century, the Royal Family visited Bolton Abbey for grouse shoots. 
In response to the influx of new visitors, The Cavendish Pavilion was built by the riverside. 
 

Dogs Policy

Dogs are welcome in all rooms,  charged at £15 per dog per night. There are washing areas, spare bowls, leads and waste bags, as well as thoughtfully placed bins for you to keep our beautifully maintained grounds just as you found them. Dogs are welcome in the hotel lounges.  Please note that the Burlington Restaurant is not pet-friendly, however there are a limited number of dog friendly tables in the Brasserie Restaurant which must be reserved in advance.
