Stunning 4* countryside spa hotel just outside London

Excellent hotel let down by restaurant

This is essentially an excellent hotel. Attractive building in lovely grounds, large pleasant room, and friendly efficient staff. Excellent breakfast. The door handle broke when my wife was in the bathroom and it took 3 staff and 30 minutes to release her. However this could happen anywhere, the matter was efficiently handled and the hotel (without being asked) offered generous compensation. 2 things however let the hotel down,
1) The set menu in the Grill room was essentially the same both evenings and not up to the standard of the hotel. In particular the limited vegetarian options were tasteless and dull. The kind of risotto that seems to go on for ever and ever. My vegetarian daughter (who otherwise liked the hotel) has asked that we not go back there again!
2) The hotel is popular with weddings. One of our party had a room near a wedding reception and was kept awake till 12.30 by booming music. She did wonder whether the rooms near the reception might have been given to wedding guests.
Otherwise really a very nice hotel
