Great location and lovely hotel - shame about the food!

We visited with another couple for the weekend of 3rd March - this is a yearly weekend away and we wanted a romantic/ luxury hotel stay with good food, so after spending the last 3 years at another fantastic hotel we wanted to change... unfortunately for Down Hall they could not match the food on any level. Firstly why would you have 3 pork dishes on a relatively limited menu and secondly not change that menu for the second night? VERY DISAPPOINTED! Breakfast was okay, but when they ran out of scrambled eggs and asked for some more they said it would be 15 minutes? We liked the fact that the house was just an under an hour from home and a beautiful hotel, but we would not return as staying for 2 nights the food needed to be a better standard!
