This was my 6th or 7th time at Chateau La Chaire, and things have changed, not for the better.
Despite winning the prestigious three rosettes for culinary excellence recently, my friend and I were disappointed on several counts with the menu and quality of the food this time. Corners were cut, attention to detail was flawed, and the hotel manager was a little patronising when we spoke with him about several problems. The staff that were there did their best, and we had no problem with them with service and attitude.
My husband, friends, family and I have really loved this hotel for years as the epitome of luxury and attention to detail, but things are not the same now. It was very special to us.
I m sorry to say, we will not be visiting The Chateau again.
Chateau La Chaire Hotel says:
Thank you for the comments which are disappointing. I spoke with you regarding your dinner one night and apologise if I sounded patronising, I certainly didn't mean to be.
I was explaining that we now have two restaurants in close proximity and it's simply that the style of the hotel restaurant menu has changed to reflect the recent 3 rosette award, being more technical and with focus on flavour and ingredients whereas our other restaurant at The Rozel is more traditional. The hotel restaurant is now recognised as being one of the best in the island.
The Chateau has been a favourite for many people over the years and our standards are continually improving to ensure we exceed expectations. It is disappointing to read your comments that you will not return, especially since you have been 6 or 7 times and so will know that our hotel is good quality. I do hope you will reconsider.
