Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Staff, restaurant and public areas were excellent. The view from the room was first class, but the room itself, although clean, was disappointing.

We had a excellent stay at the Old Swan in Harrogate on 22 April for two nights Our room 186 was really nice with a separate sitting area with a television and another television in the bedroom - only niggle was that the outlook from our window was flat roof and pipes. Our friends were in room 156 with a similar outlook but slightly better than ours the room was really large but a little bit cold.

"A pleasant weekend"

The staff, location and ambiance were very good, however the room was very small and the en suite requires updating particularly the shower in the bath. The restaurant was in a beautiful room, not matched by the food. It was adequate at best, but a very limited menu. My fish and chips tasted like yesterday's warmed up and the breakfast was great if you wanted a large cooked Yorkshire breakfast. The fruit on offer was all tinned with very limited cereals, no granola. I did discover on the last day that I could have porridge, although this was not mentioned anywhere and it was delicious. I would return and ask for a larger room as the staff and ambiance outweighed the disappointing food.
