The stark institutional green paint in reception was more reminiscent of a municipal / institutional building of the 1970 s than a welcoming hotel. I think, of the dozen or so staff who had any interaction with us, only two didn t moan at us about their job or about other guests.
You would have thought they were rushed off their feet the way they acted, yet the hotel was no more than 1/3 full and that was with a small wedding party. Food was a bit thrown together and more at home in a greasy cafe than any kind of restaurant.
The staff were nice people but just lacked enthusiasm for the job. Poor training was evident in professional guest management, so we blame senior management rather than the staff who were clearly so poorly motivated and trained to deliver able to deliver any kind of quality service. It s a shame because the hotel location and even its cleanliness was excellent. It s just lacked any sense of pride.
