Hotel situaded in good location to explore the area but very disappointing as a hotel spa

Located in a nice and convenient area to explore the south of Devon. but I was disappointed with several things:
I booked through the offpeakluxury website, therefore it was a package offering some nice bits but First when we arrived and booked in we were not offered the welcoming drink advertised on the package. I had to request this in the evening during the dinner.
secondly our room was very hot, with a very small window which only opens a few centimetres. the room was very smelly. the extra bed (for a 14 years old child) was very uncomfortable. the mattress was very thin. I had to request a second mattress to put it on top. the spare bed was ain a corner under the low wall and under the tv. I had to move it and move all the other furniture around to make the room more practical and be able to use the spare bedroom without my child hitting her head when standing up. The bedroom did not meet the expectations and what was adverted in the package.
The hotel is located in the middle of the countryside but we can not walk outside, apart from the parking to the main entrance which is kind of at the back or side of the hotel, which make it feels you are entering the hotel through the back door. therefore not able to enjoy the surroundings or at least the outside of the building.
when wanted to use the swimming pool, there were not enough towels available and we only got 2 towels for the 3 of us. not apologies not nothing.
Cleaning of the overall area is very poor. the floor in communal areas like restaurant and bar is dirty and with bits of food at all times. the chairs in the restaurant are very old and you can see the fabric hanging below the chairs. which is not good when you want to enjoy dinner time.
the food was ok, but same menu every nights.
overall this hotel only has the golf course and the spa facilities as "luxurious". It needs improvement and updating in all other areas.
