4* Heritage hotel on Windermere with magnificent lake views

The Belsfield Hotel Bowness on Windermere

Our room had a wonderful view of the lake and all the boats at Bowness pier as well as the hotel gardens, although at present half of the garden is now heaps of soil and gravel possibly in preparation for building. The room was comfortable and well appointed.
The hotel is on a grand scale in keeping with its age. Staff are helpful and friendly.
Dinner (only served in the brasserie at present) was well cooked and well presented. A fairly short menu but with adequate choice. Breakfast was entirely buffet style but with a good choice of items.
Our package included a sail on the lake which was a lovely bonus.
The hotel charges 15 for car parking which we didn't mind but there is very little, if any reference to this charge when booking. Too many artificial flowers in the public areas!
