Down Hall Hotel is a beautiful hotel with lovely grounds, great outside terrace in the summer for drinks and very friendly staff. Everyone we met was friendly and helpful, the only improvement point from me would be the service on the terrace and service charges. We stayed for 3 nights in May, every day we would have at least an hour on the terrace due to the great weather, but every time, there was lots of very friendly young servers, however we always waited at least 25 minutes to have our order taken and then another 25 minutes to receive it, and at times the terrace was half full. It seemed there were plenty of servers but no one seemed to be looking around or being attentive enough. Most of the time I would have to go to the bar to order the drink after no-one came to our table and then I had to chase up a coffee and wine order, after 25-30 minutes of waiting. We were happy to tip the happy and helpful servers however the constant service charges on everything when we were staying the hotel was a bit much.... sometimes it was just under 30 for a wine and cafe latte that we waited 50 mins for. The experience was still a very good one as our room was beautiful and at dinner the waiter service was faultless and everyone was so helpful and happy. We would return as with the surroundings, good food and atmosphere, it was a lovely stay.
