We booked this as a weekend break for my dad's birthday having previously visitied before. On the whole the break was nice but but certain things let the trip down. The venue itself is lovely, and although a little dated, it is a lovely hotel. The meal on the Saturday evening was OK until the main course when we had to send one meal back for being undercooked and then having to send the replacement meal back for the same reason. Although we were not charged for our drinks for the meal by way of apology, when we informed reception on check out, who did apologise for this, the attitude of the restaurant staff following our complaint was very poor. We had to ask for our table to be cleared and then remind them that we had ordered coffees. The sauna and steam room are small and we entered the steam room to find dirty towels had been left there from previous guests. There is also limited space outside to get changed so I can imagine that it could get rather cramped. We did have a nice stay, but were disappointed overall. I think they could possibly improve service by employing more staff, particularly if there is a wedding or party at the same time. Such a shame.
