"Lovely hotel with exquisite food"

We stayed in Banyers House on 6/4/24 for 1 night. We were welcomed when we arrived and given our room key. The room was clean and tidy with refreshments available. TV in the room and comfortable bed. Very large bathroom with clean towels and miniature wash gel and shampoo available. The bar staff were very friendly and polite. We had dinner and breakfast in the restaurant, the food was out of this world amazing, we can t praise the food enough. The restaurant staff were very helpful and extremely friendly. Breakfast was just as delicious and the tea and coffee were really lovely as well. Location wise is great, we went for a walk, lots of local amenities nearby.

"We spent almost 500 on a total disappointment."

'Calm, stylish and elegant atmosphere' is what is advertised, no one seemed to have read this to put it into action. There was nothing relaxing about this experience, which is what we were expecting, a relaxing luxury treat . I notice on here I can only see 2 old reviews. Yes it was Mothering Sunday when we were there, and you expect it to be busy. But there should be the number of staff to deal with this. On arriving at the small reception area were a bunch of dead roses with the promotion display for Mothering Sunday, dead flowers on tables, we noticed a old unusable sofa dumped in the outside covered seating area, the loud head banging thumping music, furniture that once was nice but now tatty, sticky menu's, food on the floor, curtains hanging from the rails in the dinning room, dirty toilet in our room, people who had drunk to much and could hardly walk out of the place.... it goes on and on. I felt sorry for the staff. We had problems with them not realising we had paid up front, drinks on our bills that were not ours and they could not even tell us what the drinks were it was just an amount, disjointed service which did not flow and staff which made you wonder if they had had the proper training. I wish I could attach some photos but I can't. My food was ok but the atmosphere totally spoiled it, and having to sit and look at food on the floor is not what you would expect. A rather sad experience which was supposed to be a treat, between the four of us who had booked we spent just under 500. If you were to buy an item for 500 and it was not as advertised, what would you do? I have complained directly to Banyers and received an apology. I don't get the opportunity to stop in a Hotel very often, this was not a Hotel it was a busy noisy Pub with rooms.
