"Fantastic location a car is essential"

A great hotel location, welcoming and friendly staff. A car is essential to visit local villages. There is no elevator, if you have walking difficulties early booking of ground floor rooms is recommended. Restaurant food is homely rather than gourmet. I ad the sausage, mash and a mixture o seasonal green vegetables, they were excellent.

"Did not live upto expectation"
IV, Durham, stayed: April 2026 Unaware that rooms were away from the hotel - not what we expected when booking; assumed we would be in hotel. Food selection at dinner very poor and basic. Service first night terrible. On complaining that food was over cooked.; after a 40 minute wait. Reception when reporting facts, stated what did we expect for a reduced price. Bar staff and breakfast staff very good and breakfast offering excellent.
