Nice enough hotel, but..

On balance, enjoyed the stay, staff a bit thin on the ground at times but always helpful. Nice room, well presented. Decent breakfasts, brilliant dinner menus, great food, wine list ok: however, only carbs option for dinner was skinny, fast food style fries. This really let down the main meals that were otherwise excellent. The gin bar was a disappointment - yes, there are 200+ to choose from but there is no listing of the gins on offer, the staff didn t offer any real help in choosing, there are no cocktail suggestions, in fact, one staff member at the bar said they didn t know how to make cocktails. The bar was unmanned early evening, just the time for a pre dinner drink. It just felt that whilst the hotel promotes the gin bar in their marketing, they just do not deliver and so miss a trick.
