"Amazing New Years Stay!"
Joe, Holmfirth, stayed: December 2014 We stayed at The Wood Norton for New Year for a couple of days. We travelled approx. 160miles for this stay. We had previously stayed in 2013 in the Princess Louise Suite which was incredible, this time we'd opted to stay in the room next door to the suite in the main house as we wouldn't be spending much time in the room. Just as our previous stay, the hotel is clean, welcoming, attractive & relaxing. We had New Year's Eve in the main house, a 7 course meal with an amazing jazz band bubbling in the background. We love this place so much so, I proposed to my girlfriend at the stroke of midnight in the restaurant, she said yes! New Year's Day we celebrated heavily and again ate & stayed a 2nd night at the hotel. Great place, a lot of memories there for us & would recommend it to everyone! (Make sure to stay in the main house though). The grounds are very attractive. Only minor disappoint on this 2nd stay was the restaurant staff, not many spoke fluent English & the ones that did weren't very polite but that being said they were very young.
"Relaxing"
Stephen, Kent, stayed: December 2014 We stayed in the Pear Tree Mews for 3 nights for the New Year, the meal was excellent, the service slow the band employed not to our liking, but it was pleasant. The whole experience was about relaxation and non hurried. The views are beautiful and I should imagine stunning in the spring.
"Excellent Hotel"
MM, Middlesex, stayed: November 2014 I visited with 3 girlfriends for my birthday and had a brilliant time.It was very relaxing, all the staff were very helpful.Had afternoon tea with a glass of prosecco by the open fire. I payed £20 supplement to stay in a queen room which was worth every penny. The room was large and comfortable and the bathroom was very luxurious. The evening dinner in the wood panelled dining room was excellent. The food could not be faulted but portions are quite small but its 5 courses so it fills you up. I would definitely stay at this hotel again.Thank you for a wonderful stay.
"Great hotel, but service is hit and miss"
Anon, stayed: November 2014 Had a great two nights at this hotel, but the restaurant service went from great to ok rather quickly each day. The first night we were there the servers were informed and attentive but the second one no one really knew what the dishes were, they didn't even tell us what each dish was when they brought them out, and some of the servers surprisingly didn't speak English. Other than that, a lovely hotel with nice ambiance and food.
