Can you park at The Coat & Bear?

The car park can accommodate 15 cars. These are taken on a first come, first served basis and reservations are not possible.

Is The Coat & Bear accessible for disabled guests?

The hotel offers a Really Comfy or Fancy accessible room depending on the amount of space you need, these are located on the ground floor.

The accessible bathrooms offer handrails, mobility friendly walk-in wet room shower with emergency pull cord and low level sink.

Can children stay at The Coat & Bear?

Maximum of two children up to the age of 12 are welcome in selected Luxe and Grand rooms, supplements apply.

Really Comfy rooms can accommodate a cot.

There is a charge of £10 per child per night for an extra bed.

Children receive their own welcome pack.

The name of the iconic pub with rooms is a nod to the Newbury-born Michael Bond, author of the beloved character Paddington Bear, as well as the historic Newbury Coat of 1811. This pub, surrounded by history and brimming with quirky features, will be a hub for community and hive of life.

The building that houses the Coat & Bear was originally built in 1880 as The Forest Hotel.

Does The Coat & Bear allow dogs?

They welcome well behaved dogs in the bar.  They can accommodate up to two well behaved dogs in selected dog-friendly rooms and provide a bed, food and water bowl and a treat.

Dogs are charged at £20 per room per stay.

They ask that dogs are not left unaccompanied in rooms or public spaces. They also have a strict paws on floor policy across the property.
