"Exceeded our expectations"
Fiona, East Sussex, stayed: February 2018 Booked a mid week overnight stay with dinner at the Pass. From arriving to find our bottle of champagne chilled in our beautiful room to the wonderful and inventive meal at the Pass we couldn't fault it.
"Overnight stay"
Jacqueline, West Sussex, stayed: October 2017 We have stayed at south lodge previously and rated it highly however this time was not as good. The room was of high standard and staff in the bar were polite and helpful. On arrival the reception staff asked for the full amount of money for the stay when we had paid off peak luxury, we understood the need to have a bank card registered for incidentals however we noted they still charged us for the room. When this was pointed out she told us she had cancelled it, clearly did not know what she was doing as she put the full amount on the card again which was showing on online banking, it took over a week for it to be sorted by my partner. When we went for dinner that evening the table was so wobbly it almost felt as it would tip each time we either leant on it or put a glass down. My partner asked if we could move and was asked by the waiter what did we expect him to do! He fiddled about trying to prop the table up but eventually moved us to the next table. Attitude not something we expected he remained off hand for the rest of the evening. Two incidents spoilt the stay which we had high hopes for
"Luxury break in Sussex"
Anon, stayed: August 2017 This is the third time we have visited the hotel and as before the booking process was first class as was the hotel. Unfortunately the room we were allocated was not as luxurious as before and whilst the hotel staff were happy to upgrade us we were initially told that it would cost us an extra £100 a night. This was then reduced to £75 a night because of a stain on the carpet. We decided to accept this charge but it did make the two night stay very expensive as you will appreciate and slightly spoilt the stay. May have to think of a different hotel for our next luxury break
