There's a real sense of tradition at this Grade II-listed Georgian millhouse, which is nestled in the sleepy hamlet of Worthing on the edge of the Blackwater River. Every nook and cranny harks back to the home's heritage, from the stone walls to the gorgeous wooden beams. We're blown away by how much room there is – while parents sip tea in the sunroom or snooze in the cosy bedrooms, kids can hide themselves away in the loft, listening to records and gaming on the Playstation.But when you're not playing pool in the game room, warming your toes in front of the wood-burning fire or rustling up a hearty supper on the Stanley cooker in the kitchen, chances are, you'll be making the most of the weather out in the garden.
The 1.5 acres of land runs right along the river, where swans, herons and the occasional otter come to play. At one end, you'll find an apple orchard, the other a folly, and in between, there's more than enough space to kick a ball around, host barbecues and lounge in the sunshine. Plus, it's just a five-minute walk to the nearest pub and driving distance to many more – not to mention only a thirty-minute drive from the picturesque Norfolk coast.
We think it's the perfect retreat for some family fun in the countryside.

Home truths
Although this home could sleep ten, the maximum occupancy is seven adults and two children. Bedrooms four and five are in the loft and are connected – you must walk through the twin room to access the double bedroom. As this is a period home, the stairs are steep and narrow, especially leading up to the loft – it's not suitable for young children or those with limited mobility. The river runs through the property, so please take extra care with small children. We highly suggest having a car here – there's parking available on the driveway. You'll need to supply your own coffee pods and wood for the fire. There's a private entrance
