A charge of £30 applies per night for an extra bed or cot for a child. This includes a full Scottish breakfast.
Any children 14 and over are classed as adults and charged £35 per night per child to include bed and breakfast.
History of the hotel
The present structure dates back to 1786, built by James Playfair for Henry Dundas, 1st Viscount Melville. Visitors to the castle include George IV, Sir Walter Scott and Queen Victoria. The castle is reputedly haunted by the spirit of possibly Elizabeth Rennie, or perhaps another spectre of Mary, Queen of Scots.
Does Melville Castle Hotel allow dogs?

A supplement of £20 per dog per night applies. Up to two well-behaved pups are welcome to stay. All rooms are dog friendly.
Dogs are not permitted in the main restaurant however there is a room adjacent to the restaurant where you can dine with your dog from the restaurant menu.
