Nice hotel, food over complicated

We arrived to be asked would we like to pay now? When we said we d paid it was not a problem and we were taken to our room. We were give information about breakfast but nothing about the black tie fdinner or layout of hotel. The following morning we asked when and where the black tie dinner was. We were told 7pm. When we arrived there were not many people. we were not on seating plan and told others had previously ordered food. It was dealt with promptly and we had a table with a menu which said should start at 6.15 consequently dancing started late. The food although ok seemed as if they were trying too hard to make it fancy which didn t always work. We go away every New year to include a gala dinner this was our least special to date although ok.
