Disabled Access

The public areas are accessible to guests with limited mobility. The Hotel has a limited number of rooms with walk in showers available, but we recommend you contact our team to discuss your specific requirements prior to booking.

Child Policy

A number of Superior rooms can accommodate an extra bed for one child at a cost of £40 per night inclusive of Bed and Breakfast. Children above the age of 12 are viewed as adults.

Cots can be provided and are charged at £25 per night. 

Children can use the swimming pool between 7am - 11.30am and from 3pm - 9pm, must be accompanied by an adult.

Both Beresfords and The Lodge offer children's menus. For the comfort of all diners, the hotels request that families dine early in Beresfords.

History of the hotel

The Hotel's name is taken from the lawn at the front of the Hotel, originally thought to have been called Palmers Lawn (a historical typo culminating in Balmer Lawn). The name is mentioned in the Doomsday Book – how's that for history! Originally built in the mid 1800's as a hunting lodge, the Balmer Lawn is a classic Country House Hotel set in the very heart of the New Forest National Park. Undoubtedly this is one of the most iconic buildings in the New Forest.

The Wilson Family will be celebrating 25 years of ownership of the Hotel in 2022. Chris & Alison have retained the tradition of a warm welcome, comfortable rooms and wonderful food.

Dogs Policy

The New Forest is an ideal location for all of the family, including your dog.

Selected rooms can accommodate dogs, please contact us if a dog friendly room is required.

Please note there is a nightly charge of £25 for each dog, this includes a welcome letter, bowls, bed, towel, poo bags, treats, and a breakfast sausage each morning of their stay!

Dogs must be kept on a lead inside of the hotel at all times  remain with their families even during meal times.

Pet friendly dining options are available in the lounge, bar or at The Lodge.

Dogs are not permitted in Beresfords restaurant or in the indoor leisure facilities.

Maximum of two dogs per room
