Bursting with character, this cute-as-a-button barn conversion found on a forty-acre Cornish farm offers a real escape from the stresses of modern life. You'll have all the charming rustic touches you would hope for — exposed stone walls, a vaulted ceiling and a log burner — but there's a modern feel, and absolutely no chintz.
You can slip into your own wood-fired hot tub just outside the back door, and the host has been thoughtful enough to provide a generous stack of logs to get you started. Meet the farm animals or set off alongside the private Nature Reserve to discover the private shingle beach on the River Tamar. Later, take advantage of some of the farm's other surprises — a communal games room with ping-pong, a shared tennis court, a hammock hidden away in the orchard, and a basketball hoop.
With a number of extra activities also bookable, you can take part in a foraging workshop, try out stand-up paddleboarding or get involved in local wine tasting. Alternatively, you can drive to the port city of Plymouth in about forty minutes and visit the National Marine Aquarium.

Home truths
The beds can be set up as a super-king sized double and a single, or as three singles. The hot tub can be pre-warmed for arrivals between 3pm and 7pm but there is a charge of £30. The host can provide locally sourced fruit and vegetables, milk and dairy produce from nearby farms. A hot desk is available in the estate office if you need to get some work done. You're welcome to bring two dogs with you for an additional charge of £20, but there are a lot of resident animals, so they must be well-behaved. If required, there's a cot, children’s books and toys, a high chair, a baby bath, children’s tableware, a baby monitor, plug socket covers and babysitter recommendations. .
