The grounds
The Retreat is set within 20 acres of rolling Worcestershire countryside. It is now a working, sustainable vineyard set within beautiful, landscaped grounds with stunning views of the Malvern Hills and lake.
As well as the vineyard, there is a beautiful wildflower meadow, willow trees along with working farmland.
Wild swimming is available for a bracing start to your day however they have restricted swimming times to protect the local wildlife.
Wagtail Retreat is in a lovely, rural location, surrounded by farms and beautiful countryside. There is a lovely bridle path on-site, accessible from the lake, where you can take your dog, or just yourself for an early morning walk.
Other Information
The owners have developed their property to support and sustain the local environment and biodiversity. They planted a wildflower meadow three years ago to support bees and insects and have used sustainable, green oak for the decking. Each Shepherds Hut has been insulated using 26 Welsh sheep fleeces, plenty to keep everyone cosy! The interiors have been fitted out using solid wood, sourced from Pontilas Sawmill and the outdoor Victorian cast iron roll-top baths have all been reclaimed and refurbished.
History of the hotel
Wagtail Retreat is a 20 acre, family owned, working vineyard. The family moved into the property 25 years ago and built the lake, landscaped the grounds and planted the vines in 2018.
They grow four different grape varieties – Solaris, Pinot Noir, Pinot Precoce and Siegrrebe. If you stay at the vineyard, you will be able to see how they nurture and grow the vines throughout the year.
Dogs Policy
Dogs are very much welcome at Wagtail Retreat. They welcome up to two dogs per hut for a small additional charge of £25 per hut to cover additional cleaning.
They provide dog beds, treats, bowls, dog towels and Bramley's Digby Dog Wash for up to two dogs per hut, to ensure your four-legged friends are as comfortable as you.
Dogs must not be left alone in the hut and must be kept under control at all times, both for their safety and the comfort of others.
Wagtail Retreat has it's very own working cocker spaniel, Bertie.
If you are coming with your four-legged friend, please can you note that the retreat has swans situated on the water so would appreciate you keeping them on a lead to protect them, just incase they fancy a chase!
