Location is excellent, the grounds are superb, the service is good but we found the quality of the food did not warrant the cost. The room was at best three star and the staff worked to the best of their abilities in the circumstances. New staff members learned quickly and all were very helpful and friendly. However, the cost of staying at the Wordsworth excludes it from any future breaks for us in The Lakes. The other downside is, Grasmere shuts down too early, about 4pm mostly.

The hotel is situated in an area of outstanding natural beauty, the grounds and situation are beautiful. We had our complimentary Prosecco brought to the garden terrace to enjoy. The staff are extremely helpful. The swimming pool, at the end of a long day s hike was divine. We ate out after the first night as there are lots of local restaurants to try. In our opinion, the food needs to improve in quality. Having said that the hotel is a lovely place to stay. We stayed in a Village View room which was lovely, looking out onto gardens and the village so you could really watch the world go by. We would definitely go again.

After staying at the Wordsworth in March and needing another short break, there was only one place to visit.

Arrived early, parked the car behind the hotel, on the doorstep of Grasmere, next door neighbour was the little Gingerbread Shop, the staff at the hotel were great, had the 3 course evening meal and the breakfast both of which was very nice indeed. Will definitely be looking at going again
