A lovely hotel, on the whole, and well located. The room I finally had was large and comfortable though the TV didn't work at first and the safe was temperamental. I say 'finally' because the heated towel rail in the first room wasn't working. I was told that 'maintenance' would check it the next morning but it was January and it would be cold in the morning. I was also less than impressed by the stains on the carpet. It was I who asked to be moved - it was not offered - and I was not offered help in moving. The second room, the same 'standard' as the first, was much nicer, especially the bathroom. The bed was very comfortable. I wonder why I was not allocated that room in the first place, especially as it was next to the room given to the friend I was travelling with. The staff and service in the restaurant were extremely good but the menu was rather disappointing and the cheese board overpriced. Breakfast was excellent apart from the fact that the tea was made with teabags not loose leaf tea - a small point, but it's the little things that make a hotel stand out. The treatment I had at the spa was also excellent and I rated the spa itself highly.
I just wish that a thorough check is made that everything in the guest rooms worked before guests check in.
I'll say 'No' about staying there again mainly because I prefer to try new places.
