"Lost It"

Our second visit to the Bermondsey Square found the hotel had lost its former appeal. The room looked tired and could not be ruled out as the source of suspected insect bites to the leg during our stay.

It s quite a walk (15 minutes ?)along interesting lively streets from the tube to the hotel but location is good- a modern square with a small Sainsbury s, offices and apartments. Good restaurants nearby and a rather villagey feel to the area. Our deal offered an upgrade if available and when I enquired I was told we were already in the best room in the superior category that we had booked. It was indeed in a good quiet spot but the room -208-was not satisfactory. We overlooked the very scuffed walls, the four hangers between two, the lack of storage space for clothes but then the walk in style slightly mouldy shower leaked all over the bathroom floor as the door seal was not up to the job. There was no bath.In the morning we were moved to a room much higher up (606)but also quiet. The walls were somewhat cleaner , the shower didn t leak but as soon as I used the hair drier it blew up! It was immediately replaced. The beds were very comfortable, rooms clean and quiet. In the second room but not the first we got one robe (for two of us)and one pair of slippers. Our visit was in March but the rooms were so hot that we needed to have the rather noisy air conditioning on all night which is dreadful, not only in terms of guest comfort but in terms of the environment and the fuel cost. Can I suggest (beg!)that hotels offer lighter duvets. All the greenwashing (pun intended)about leaving towels on the rails wouldn t be necessary if they used suitable bed covers instead of AC. How bad would it be in summer! The communal area is attractive and there s a wide variety of good breakfast food, though the hot offerings are lukewarm. Staff are friendly, responsive and helpful. I can t remember how much I paid so the value for money question was tricky

Bermondsey Square Hotel is well located and staff were friendly and supportive throughout our stay. Breakfast was flavoursome and there was a good selection to choose from.
"Very Clean and Great Restaurants nearby"

We had a good stay here. Only problem was the interconnecting door to the people next door who had their tv on all night long.
