The cost of one night with dinner bed and breakfast is very over priced for what you get. There are nicer hotels with better food and ambiance. We did not like getting dressed up for our evening meal for it to be served in the bar area. Why couldn t the breakfast room be used? This room is far more appropriate for an evening meal. The bath in the room was very nice. The room was clean. It would have been nice to have a bottle of water on arrival.

Firstly, the staff were all very friendly and welcoming. The setting is beautiful, with the river running along the front aspect of the main property. Provides easy access to Donington circuit. Also close to East Midlands Airport and they plane noise can be quite loud. We stayed in one of the cottage rooms, not in the main hotel building. Overall impression is it's all in need of some refurbishment. The way to the entrance to the bushes felt like walking to an old university dormitory. The shower barely got warm enough. There was some wallpaper peeling from the breakfast room. The toaster didn t work properly and only toasted one side but you weren t allowed to put the toast through twice as it would set off the fire alarm. The rest of the self service buffet breakfast was ok but not outstanding. The lunch/evening restaurant is essentially a bar serving pub grub. Limited menu which is apparently changed perhaps every few months. It clearly hadn t been changed for some time as the menus were just a laminated A4 sheet which had seen better days. Having said that, the food was reasonable, although the tiramisu was unrecognisable as a tiramisu. As a hotel stay, it was fine, but just not on a par of luxury with the other places we have stayed in on this website.
