Anon, stayed: October 2014
We stayed on a saturday overnight to celebrate our anniversary. We stayed in the most expensive room with a jacuzzi as it was a celebration. Our room was seperate to the hotel, much like a granny annex on the side. The room itself although clean with a modern bathroom was very dated and on arrival i had to ask for the champagne which was supposed to be in the room. Although this is advertised as a Manor, it is not what you would normally expect with very limited grounds. This was a very expensive evening away and as which deserves a wow factor. Unfortunately there is not one in Orestone Manor and i would not recomend it at there present rates!

We were very much looking forward to a relaxing break. On arrival we found the toilet was not flushing. The owner came quickly and said it would be fixed during dinner. The mattress was so old, you could feel the springs through it, this was changed while we were at dinner also. Excellent young men serving at dinner, however my calf's liver was amazing on the first night but inedible due to the sinew on the second, also my fillet steak was tough but my husband's great. We had been assured the upgrade was worth it but found the room needed some TLC and refurbishment.

Not the best food or accommodation. Even the complimentary drinks were included on the bill. We paid it to save any argument!

Poor initial impression given by untidy car park, two beached boats and a pile of builders rubble. Needs major up-grade in decoration, furnishings and carpets. Very narrow staircases to upper rooms.

No warm welcome on arrival. Shown to Room 4 but sadly it was not to our liking because there was no shower (a basic need for someone with a back injury who has difficulty getting in & out of a bath), we explained this and politely asked for a room with a shower. We were then shown to Room 7 (a loft room with low beams) which was also not ideal although it did have a nice quadrant shower. The lady said we would have to stay here for one night and then she would move us to either Room 2 or 3 which would be available from tomorrow (Mon). We agreed and were happy with this arrangement. Then a while later a lady called Laura phoned and said either we stay where we are or she could contact OPL and ask them to relocate us to a different hotel in the area. We were shocked to say the least, we had only just arrived at our chosen hotel and it seemed like they wanted rid of us. What happened to the arrangement agreed earlier? As we were not travelling alone, moving to another hotel was not an option for us and the other members of our party were happy with their room (Room 6 - a large room with shower and its own private balcony) so we decided to put up with our room and not let a bad start spoil our week long holiday.
