We really enjoyed our stay in the hotel and overall, it was very good value for money. All the staff were friendly and welcoming, which really stood out from other hotels we have been in. The food in the restaurant at dinner was really really good too. Our room was very quiet, clean and comfortable and we didn't want for anything. However, the hotel as a whole was a bit run down (for example, there was a leak from the rain in one of the stairwell windows). The masseur was amazing and our treatments were excellent. The spa needs a major update with more of an emphasis on indoor facilities as the pool and the hot tub are both outside and you have to go outside to get to the sauna (which was nice actually) and the steam room (which was not good at all).

I ve booked many hotels through off peak luxury and they ve all been great. However this was the worse and it s not up to standard. It would be OK if it was not advertised as luxury and through your website. It just doesn t compete and it s marketing itself far above its actual reality.

We arrived on a Sunday afternoon to a very welcoming hotel and were given a very pleasant and clean room. Part of the offer included an evening meal but I have marked down the restaurant due to a very poor menu choice. We were told this was a result of a very busy weekend and a non delivery of a food order. This was very disappointing but full marks to the hotel receptionist who went to great lengths to find us an alternative restaurant.

Excellent location within walking distance of Matlock Bath. Hotel is nice and comfortable. The staff were outstanding. Nothing was too much trouble. Had a delicious meal in the restaurant. Didn t use the pool this time but it is a lovely pool if you get chance to use it.
