Lovely staff and lovely restaurant with good food. Hotel is very dated now and looking shabby/unloved. Spa was overcrowded, with areas out of order with building work going on. There was damage to tiles alongside lights not on or working in the hydro pool. I was a bit disappointed after visiting 10 plus years ago and it being in very good shape then. The massage was brilliant though!

I've stayed over many years unfortunately the spa is very run down now. Steam room out of order in the country club. Which meant people from the country club could use the spa facilities. So we paid for no extras really . In the spa I counted over 20 light bulbs not working and a large patch of unpainted plaster on the ceiling above the jacuzzi. Also jets not working in the jacuzzi. The steam room in the spa side was intermittently working also with twinkly lights not working and loads if tiles missing off the wall. In the changing room, 2 of the 3 toilets were out of use Lunch was disappointing but nice, they've done away with the buffet lunch and now it's 3 small tapas dishes with bread, oil and humus.

We often use Offpeak Luxury for getaways and are generally very happy with the over all quality of the hotels but Lion Quays fell short of the usual high standard. It had a resort feel to it; big, busy and specialising in parties and events. The restaurant lacked any kind of intimacy although the food was nice enough and the staff were delightful. The room was poor with the tiniest bathroom, stained and damaged furniture. Over all a little disappointing.

We have stayed at this hotel before, but what a letdown the venue really needs some TLC, the balcony woodwork was rotten, the bathroom was letdown by missing door stop resulting in door handle striking the glass shower screen, the general appearance of all the hotel was unkempt.
