Disappointing
stayed: January 2025
We have stayed at The Lion Quays Hotel & spa a number of times now and have always enjoyed the experience. Whilst we had a lovely time this time there are some refurbishments required. The spa is looking very tired and in need of a deep clean, in particular the spa changing rooms have black what looks like mould on the walls and the whole feeling in there is run down, also the showers were cold, I tried 3 different ones and there was no hot water (the next morning I went for a quick swim and used the leisure changing room and this was much nicer than the spa changing rooms). As we walked down the stairs into the thermal spa, there was a horrible smell and the walls were completely covered in the black mould and part of the ceiling had even caved in!
Likewise when we got over to the hotel the room also felt very tired. There were cracks in the tiling in the very small bathroom, the paint work on the balcony was all chipping off and in need of sorting. Also the throw on the end of the bed was filthy (covered in stains). The beds sheets thankfully looked clean.
Both the evening meal and the breakfast in the restaurant was very nice.
We both agreed that we probably would not return here until it had had a makeover and was brought back to the previous standards we had come to expect from there
