Couldn't have asked for a better 3 night stay away from the hustle and bustle of life. The food was to die for (we originally planned to just eat on the first night, and then ate their every night!). Welcoming hotel, with friendly staff. The spa was great (but you need a coat as it's not attached directly to the hotel). Beautiful views over the Devon countryside and easy access to the beaches and towns of North Devon. A perfect experience.

Had a two night stay , to celebrate our 24th wedding anniversary, upgraded to a feature room at no extra cost which was fabulous ! Staff were attentive and personable . Our first night was a fine dinning experience which was exceptional both the food and service were of the highest quality ..Due to it being so good we booked the fine dinning experience a 2nd night ( different menu) unfortunately the experience couldn t have been more different than the first night service was extremely poor with staff not knowing what they were serving and paying more attention to talking about their day and talking between themselves around organising the following nights busy sitting this isn t something people paying for fine dining want to hear . The food was either too hot or too cold .. the manager dealt with my concerns exceptionally well . Just very disappointed that the waiter did not apologise directly . Would we go back ? Yes but there needs to be a consistent approach to the experience.

Our original break had to be cancelled due to Storm Eunice and the hotel being without power, but the reception was brilliant in contacting us and assisting with rebooking for two week's later. When we arrived our room had been upgraded to a lovely big comfortable ground floor room. Every member of staff we spoke to was helpful, well informed and efficient - 10 out of 10 for customer service. Dinner in the restaurant was a joy each evening with changes to the menu daily offering a lovely selection of beautifully presented dishes, 10 out of 10 again. Breakfast was also excellent. We loved the place so much that we've booked a golf break in early May. The hotel is about to undergo some development in the grounds to offer self catering lodges which given the facilities seems an excellent option and should not impact on guests staying in the existing accommodation.
