Staying at the Grand Hotel Eastbourne to celebrate our 46th Wedding Anniversary was disappointing. From the outside the hotel is impressive as is the reception area and shared spaces .
However our room told a different story ! Small , dark looking out onto the backs of buildings . Te bathroom was tiny . This is definitely not a five star hotel in our eyes . The hotel seems very faded .
Service in the restaurant particularly at breakfast was particularly poor . Staff would appear to have had no training regarding making guests in this Five Star Hotel feel special . Total disregard was paid to observing guests personal space , leaning over us serving plates ti our table , walking towards us rather than standing back to let us pass . Porridge was served cold then replaced on request but it contained a large congealed lump. So disappointing.
