Excellent. The hotel was very well laid out and, so far as we could see, immaculately maintained. The gardens were splendid, and also very well looked after. My wife and I were particularly impressed by the staff who were very pleasant, helpful and welcoming. The meals were very good (though expensive) except for the starters, which were disappointing. The bedroom, large and traditional in style, met all our needs. One minor quibble was that we would have appreciated a grip rail in the bath/shower. Also a non-slip mat - though we could no doubt have asked for one. Overall very pleased. We will go again.

My wife and I were very pleased to be notified of the COVID-19 policies in advance of our stay. Clearly it is not the same experience as in pre-COVID times: the menu has less choice, the room can only be entered by staff for cleaning by arrangement, and the spa has restricted numbers. However, expectations had been well managed and the staff could not have been more helpful. The restaurant was outstanding.

We stayed for 4 nights in August. It's was a different experience to normal which was no fault of the staff. All the staff were friendly and helpful particularly the young woman from Kent who works in the restaurant. She knows how she helped us on the first night! Our room was very clean and beautiful. Because of the restrictions, staff can't service your room during your stay but when we asked for anything we needed such as towels, tea etc. it was left outside the door quickly. If you want to use the pool you have to book it as only 6 people are allowed at one time. We were very fortunate to have a slot when we were the only ones using the pool. The menu in the evening is also restricted but the food is first class. We really enjoyed our time at the hotel despite the restrictions and felt very relaxed when we were there.
