Although the castle is very nice and authentic that is where the good points end. We had a room in the lodges which were quite a bit from the castle as we are both in our seventies. The room was nice bu the be had a foam topper on the mattress which did not have a cover and only the fitted sheet on top of it. This caused us to perspire excessively through the night.

The hotel is selling itself as luxurious castle experience, it is in fact badly laid out with poor facilities and the rooms are no better than a poor B&B.

From outside the castle looked stunning, location excellent. Through the doors, impressive looking rooms, but shabby, dusty, in need of paint. The breakfast were cold, staff unable to cope or fulfill requests, ie - no milk with drinks, hit + miss on toast, standards poor. I feel staff need training in catering for guests who paid 250 per night for bed + breakfast.

We were disappointed with our stay. The evening meal was nice but other than that the stay was disappointing for the price. The staff member that checked us in rushed through the information and didn t seem interested. The breakfast took 60 minutes after we ordered to arrive so much so my wife had to cancel her order as she is pregnant and began to feel unwell waiting. Our stay included a breakfast that she didn t have. My wife also overheard staff talking about another guest that had been troublesome .
