Definitely not a luxury resort

Although the castle is very nice and authentic that is where the good points end. We had a room in the lodges which were quite a bit from the castle as we are both in our seventies. The room was nice bu the be had a foam topper on the mattress which did not have a cover and only the fitted sheet on top of it. This caused us to perspire excessively through the night.
Dinner in the dungeon- food was fine but dinner took 2 1/2 hours for 3 courses
Breakfast was a farce, despite booking a time there was no table available when we arrived, eventually told to sit at a table that had not been cleared and waited 15 minutes before it was. We did not receive our tea or toast until we had finished our meal despite asking for it several times. The final insult was when I found a hair in my breakfast.
When we checked out we told the receptionist about our ordeal and refused to pay any service charge.
She did apologise and took the drinks we had at dinner off the bill.
