"The in room television and telephone is out of date also the gym."
Metee A, stayed: May 2016
At that time the telephone and the television weren't working and the system was out of date compared to the newly renovated room which was nice. The staff in the restaurant were friendly but the food taste was so so. The gym equipment very poor, also the atmosphere, should make it up to date.
"Could be perfect!"

I had wanted to stay at Bovey Castle for years but never felt I could justify the cost, then I spotted a special deal and thought why not!! I did not tell my Husband where we were going as I wanted it to be a surprise for him. When we arrived I think he was speechless as the Castle looked magnificent, also the welcome from the staff was wonderful, nothing was too much trouble and we were made to feel very special. When shown to our room we were disappointed, it was smaller than it looked in the photographs and very warm almost stuffy. The bedding was very good, lovely soft pillows, white crisp sheets. The bed had cushions on it that had quite nasty stains on them though. The bathroom was good but not luxurious though there was a lovely selection of toiletries.
"Great quiet get away, with outstanding customer service for all your needs."

Great welcome to the hotel, car parked and bags to the room by a great group of guys more than happy to help, nice reception staff, all looked happy. Great hide-away for whiskey drinkers as great selection, had food in both restaurants, both with totally different angles but both live up to their expectations.
"Good in parts"

The room was in need of some serious TLC and well below the standard we have experienced with other OPL bookings. A review was submitted to the hotel and various shortcomings pointed out during our stay, but there has been no response to date. The service and food were very good, though afternoon tea was a bit of a disappointment. The pool and spa were very good and not overcrowded. We enjoyed our stay, but given the time of year and very few guests, a much better standard of room could have been provided to make the overall rating that much higher.
"Relaxing stay"

We spent one night at Bovey Castle and it was marvellous! The staff were very welcoming, the atmosphere very relaxing and warm. The highlight before we left was seeing the bird of prey display at 10am!
