We booked the romantic break package for Valentines Day & it certainly came up to expectations. We were greeted by a very pleasant & informative young lady and were upgraded to room 4 which was a suite with a four poster bed! The bathroom was superb and one of the best we have ever experienced. We only managed half of our afternoon tea which was lovely, and were told that the rest would be boxed up for us, but we never received it! We had a wonderful walk in the grounds which really were stunning as was the ambience in the whole hotel. The champagne was very drinkable but the chocolates could have been better - 5 and not luxurious! Our dinner was booked for 8pm & this is when the disappointment kicked in - our starter was below standard - half a roasted pepper chopped up on a lettuce leaf, followed by a roast which was so dry it was almost inedible. We didn t risk a desert. After a reasonable nights sleep, we were both very much looking forward to breakfast - really disappointing - my bacon was so hard I could not cut it and my scrambled egg you could cut with a knife it was so hard & set! There was fresh orange juice and delicious pan au chocolates which went some way towards remedying our disappointment. We would return as the hotel & ground were beautiful but the restaurant did not come up to our expectations for a four star hotel so we would dine out in future which is a great shame.

We enjoyed our stay at Ashdown Park. The location, grounds and ambience was excellent. The gourmet restaurant food was exceptional and of high quality taste and delicious. Our room was superb with a very comfortable bed and pillows, and furniture. The location was good with easy access to what we wanted to visit - Bluebell railway and surrounding towns. The staff were very helpful and friendly and also the pool and spa was excellent.
